The Bodarie School
If the children are untaught, their ignorance and vices will, in future life, cost us much dearer in their consequences than it would have in their education. – Thomas Jefferson
Bodarie is located in the rural mountain region of Southeast Haiti. Few government services reach Bodarie and there’s no electricity, running water or municipal infrastructure. Most area inhabitants farm to survive and there are few job opportunities.
Established in 2005, the Bodarie School began as an open-air school with approx. 60 students and has grown to 300 students providing:
- A quality K-9 education that is among the highest in the region
- A safe, modern building and facilities (2015)
- A school health clinic and free medications for students, staff, and their families (2023)
- Daily breakfasts (2023) and clean filtered water (2016)
- A playground and soccer field
- The hope for a bright future
